Senior Photos 2015

This is the first year that I have shot senior portraits. I have to say that I really enjoy working with students, especially seniors. The thing about being a senior in high school is that it's where the rubber meets the road in the saying "you have your whole life ahead of you". It's really the first time in your life that YOU get to choose what you are doing with your life be it college, trade school, or just continuing to work at your current job.

I love hearing about their dreams and aspirations. It brings back so many memories of being in high school and the anxiety of choosing a career path (in a good way tho).

The First Senior is Mrianda. I had the privilege of shooting this at a local Christmas tree farm. It was very windy that day.

A new venture - Product Photography

I remember the day that I got my first DSLR. It was winter of 2009 and I was just a few short months away from going abroad on a month long journey to Italy and Tunisia. I had taken some college photography classes using my Dad's old film SLR so I felt ready for the jump. I purchased a Canon 50D kit from amazon. Once I got my hands on the camera I couldn't stop taking pictures of anything and everything. I would go on walks for hours snapping pictures of random objects.

For the next few years I found myself gravitating towards photographing people more than objects. I would photograph weddings, babies, families and portraits as much as I could. Up until this point I rarely took photos of still non-human objects.

Coincidentally two people in my network of friends were starting their own businesses. Both of which I had the opportunity to give product photography a go at. One business is focused on selling items on Amazon as a "fufilled by Amazon" service, the other is a gunsmith who is starting to make parts and whole rifles.

I will be sure to share more info as the businesses get closer to officially launching but here is a preview of the setup I am using.

It took a lot of effort to get everything needed for this setup but now that I have it dialed in, it should be pretty quick and easy going forward.

Another turn of the page

The new website is finally up! I know it has been a long time coming but other things in my life took priority over the summer so now that fall has arrived I am able to sit down and dedicate some time to making this site.

One of my favorite times of year is fall. Of course I love the colors, the transition from iced to hot coffee and some relief from the heat we have had this summer. What really grabs me about fall is the chance to restart. Just as we have seasons in our life where everything was once full of life and flourishing - sometimes we have to let it die so that in the spring we can welcome new life. With everything in life there is always an end and a beginning.
